Before running any trading software that can hold API keys, check that the download is genuine. Kraken CLI makes this possible.
According to its documentation, release binaries are signed with minisign and every file on the releases page has a matching signature file. The project publishes its public key and a one-line verification command; minisign itself installs with brew on macOS or apt on Linux.
Trade-off: one extra step, in exchange for knowing the binary was not tampered with.
Limitation: the tool is still labelled experimental, so verification does not remove trading risk.
